John 14:1-6

Title: The Promise of Heaven.  

Theme: Jesus proclaims to be the only way to lasting peace with God in Heaven.    

Point: Christ, prepared a place for you, promised He would return and presented you directions. 

Probing Question: Do you trust that Christ is your only way to eternal life with God in Heaven?  

Introduction: John is one of the most profound sections in all of the Bible.     

Transitional Sentence: It is the Foundation of Hope, Foretaste of Heaven, Fulfillment of Healing, Finality of Holiness

Outline:

      I.         Heaven is a Prepared Place. (v.1-2)

a.     Jesus is going ahead to prepare a place for the disciples to live for eternity.

Theological Concepts = Deity of Christ, Heaven, John 3:13,

We can stay encouraged to know that Christ has prepared for us a place when we leave here. 

    II.         Heaven is a Promised Place. (v.3)

a.     Jesus promised His followers, He would be faithful in bringing them home again. 

Theological Concept = Eschatology, Character of Christ, Deity of Christ. 

You should rejoice in the fact that Christ promises to come gets us and look forward to it. 

  III.         Heaven is a Private Place. (v.4-6)

b.     Jesus claims to be the only way to the Father as the Way, the Truth and Life. 

Theological Concept = Sovereign Christ, Submission to the Father

You must place your faith in Christ alone to be saved and to make it to heaven. 

Conclusion: Follow thou me. I am the way and the truth and the life. Without the way there is no going; without the truth there is no knowing; without the life there is no living. I am the way which thou must follow; the truth which thou must believe; the life for which thou must hope. I am the inviolable way; the infallible truth, the never-ending life. I am the straightest way; the sovereign truth; life true, life blessed, life uncreated.[1]"[2]
