John 13:1-20

Title: A Holy Humility
Theme: Jesus Christ came to serve humanity, even unto death on the Cross.
Point: Serve Christ and others with the same self-sacrificial Servant heart of Christ.
Probing Question: Are you daily repenting so that you can daily represent Christs' likeness? Introduction: DL Moody and how in humility head shined the shoes of his students. Transitional Sentence: Jesus, who deserved all honor, humbled Himself.
Outline:

I. We see the Humility of Christ. (v.1-5)
a. Christ loved to the end and humbled Himself as a lowly servant.

Theological Concept = Humanity of Christ, Philippians 2:5-7 "Have this attitude in yourself."

We must be willing to serve as an act of love, even to those who betray us.

II. We see the Holiness of Christ. (v.6-11)
a. Jesus had given a lesson on being holy and the daily need to repent.

Theological Concept = Doctrine of Salvation, union with Christ, Sanctification.

Union with Christ is vital to salvation In Christ, but progressive sanctification is equally crucial.

III. We see the Heart of Christ. (v.12-20)

a. Jesus Christ, the Superior, served the inferior and is calling them to do the same.

Theological Concept = Servant Leadership, Humanity of Christ

Because God has spoken in Christ, we must receive His Word and Respond in obedience.

Conclusion: Have you received Christ? That priority! You can't Serve Christ and others with the same self-sacrificial Servant heart of Christ, if you are not in Union with Christ, if you are not IN Christ born again, Holy Spirit indwelt. You must put your faith in the Person and Work of Christ, not Works. Gal 2:21, You are not clean, you are stained with Sin, Separation, you are at Odds with God, and you need the saving work of Christ. His blood, His Cross, His Cleansing is what you Need! And today, you can leave here Wash in the Blood of Christ. Some of you need all of your bodies to be washed, but for those in Christ, you need the Daily, 1 John 1:9 Cleansing, confession, and repentance, so you can indeed walk Holy, are you daily repenting, so that you can daily represent the likeness of Christ. Don't fail to come clean today as we take of the Lord's table, repent, and walk in holiness.
