Previous Episode: Angels

This morning the spirit is leading me to address some of the foolishness that is running rampant amongst believers from our pulpits to the parking lots.

2 Timothy 4:3-4  For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

I am here to tell you the time is now.  We have believers so fixed on what they want that they will shun or give no consideration to what the Word of God says. Their focus is only on what they want and so much so that their ears are only open to what pacifies their desires and disconnects from the words of truth being spoken.

Those with itchy ears are pawns in Satan’s game.  Itchy ears are a gateway for him to exploit our souls and to pull away from the Word of God and make us prime targets for false prophets.

Jesus alerts us to “watch out for false prophets” in Matthew 7:15. He compares these false prophets to wolves in sheep’s clothing. In that same chapter, Jesus also tells us how to identify these false prophets: we will recognize them by their fruit.  What we always need to remain conscious of is the best fruit, the best gifts are nothing, even evil without godliness.

But we as believers have taken on the persona of the world and look for quick easy fixes, want our blessing delivered and gift wrapped according to our desires.  So the world runs from psychic to psychic and we run from “prophet” to “prophet” seeking from man to pour a word into our lives when the word of God has and will always be readily available.

In Matthew 12:38 Jesus told the people, “An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign”. But we run around with our itchy ears, wanting to hear confirmation concerning our desires, along with signs and predictions of the future, putting more faith in man’s words than the mandates of God.
