It’s another podcast this week! Why? Because it’s October that’s why! During the month of October Part-Time Fanboy continues its tradition of chatting about some of their favorite horror films! Every week this month, some of the Part-Time Fanboy contributors will pick one of their favorite horror movies and those of the crew who can join in will sit down to discuss it.

This week Kristian picks the anime thriller classic Perfect Blue. Directed by Satoshi Kon in 1997 Perfect Blue is the story of a young Japanese pop idol who decides the time has come to move forward in her career by becoming a serious actress. Her new career path doesn’t go over well with her fan base and the choices she makes with her acting career find her compromising aspects of herself she never thought she’d have to. The resulting backlash from one fan in particular and the trauma of what she has to put herself through while performing in her first significant role as an actress begin to take their toll. As a result reality begins to splinter around her as she struggles to discern reality from fantasy. Reyna Velarde, Paul Edwards, and Yvis Cannavale join in to discuss a movie which is a distillation of fears about the emerging internet and privacy which still speaks to things like the all encompassing presence of social media in our lives today!

Part-Time Fanboy. Full-Time obsession on a Part-Time schedule.
