In this ParlAmericas Podcast episode, Bridget Burns, co-director of the Women’s Environment and Development Organization (WEDO), delivers a keynote address titled “Gender Equality & Climate Policy: Words to Action,” in which she outlines the links between the gender equality and climate change agendas, and why it is critically important to jointly address these issues. She highlights practical steps that can be taken at the national level to apply a gender lens to the development of responses to climate change threats. She also provides an overview of the international frameworks that can guide these efforts.

This presentation was recorded during the 10th Gathering of the ParlAmericas Parliamentary Network for Gender Equality, Gender-responsive Climate Action, held in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, from May 22 to 24, 2018. At this gathering, participants discussed strategies for ensuring that national climate policies, plans, and legislation are informed by gender analysis, and that these are also in alignment with national and international development objectives.
