Nicholas Monaco is a digital propaganda researcher and computational linguist at the Institute for the Future’s Digital Intelligence Lab. In this presentation, Mr. Monaco provides insight on the challenges that bots and computational propaganda present for democratic processes and political representation, providing examples of their use during the Brexit referendum and the last presidential campaign in the United States. He also shares actions and initiatives that can curb these negative impacts.
