Just Need Some Buffer Time

December 18, 2023 22:32

In this episode we jump in discussing the book Lindsey is working on. (Lorenzo seems a little butthurt that she hasn’t asked him to read it.)  But, for real. We all need a little downtime. Right? Is it childish to play video games at 40? Probably. Is it selfish to prioritize what’s on your phone over your kids? I don’t know. Does our brain need a bit of downtime in this crazy life? Absolutely.  We hope you have a healthy escape. We’re leaning, too.  Get in touch:  Parenting vs. Podcast c...

Keefe Chambers is a Saint!

Creativity and stuf

July 02, 2023 03:30

Creativity... What does it mean to be creative? I asked the large language model and this is what she said. that are original and meaningful. It involves the process of combining existing knowledge, skills, and experiences in novel and imaginative ways to produce something unique and innovative. Being creative means having the capacity to think divergently, break away from conventional patterns, and approach problems or tasks from fresh perspectives. AI chatbots aren't creative yet. But huma...

Come With Us On a Journey Through Space and ADHD Time-blindness

June 15, 2023 04:23

This is a journey. Try and stick with us for this hour and a half recording and if you do, you've earned what is coming to you. Respect. Pure respect.  That didn't make any sense. I wish I would have asked ChatGPT to write this. But seriously, who reads these anyway? Not me.  Our talk on ADHD. Enjoy.

May 28, 2022 16:53

Where are Lindsey's Birkenstocks? Also, where's are dang American Dream?  We don't know the answer to any of these questions. But I do have a separate completely unrelated question: Why do rappers sometimes make those little bird noises in the background of their songs?  Get in touch:  Parenting vs. Podcast can be found at parentingvspodcast.com  Instagram @parentingvspodcast Twitter @parentingvspod All our music is made by Jeff: https://soundcloud.com/jeff-omidvaran

In The Can

April 17, 2022 16:12

This episode has been "in the can" of some time. We recorded it on 4/3/22 but I just got around to editing it today. Also, what the heck is "in the can" anyway? I guess it's just radio or recording lingo.  Yeah, looks like it's an old recording term. The "can", in our case is our iPhone with the Shure Mic attached. This episode has been there for a while. What am I even talking about? Does anyone even read this? I could go on and on talking about whatever I wanted with a fair amount of con...

Bird Nerding

Bird nerding. That's what we called this episode. I think we briefly talked about birds in our discussion? Birds aren't the only thing we discussed. We went into the nitty-gritty. Becoming Irrelevant

December 31, 2021 22:56

Okay, so the last two years seems to have passed by in like three months. It feels like life is accelerating faster than a Tesla S Plaid, and we're left in the dust with our iPods and Burt's Tiki Lounge. In this episode we talked about what it feels like to be behind in technology, in fashion. We're not really that young anymore, and that can feel weird sometimes.  We hope you enjoy this episode. Breweries With Kids?

December 22, 2020 18:07

Should you bring your kids with you to a brewery? We discussed this question and a few other topics. We're also still adjusting to our new location, Portland, Oregon. We talk about that a bit. Then we go on to talk about what we're listening to. We even played the songs on a MacBook Air, so the sound quality of those songs isn't great (although the MacBook Air speakers are surprisingly good). Karens and Macaroons

December 16, 2020 14:25

The pandemic has put us all under a lot of pressure. We find ourselves at the edge of sanity more than we'd like. It's no surprise then, that it seems there are more videos surfacing of "Karens" lashing out at people on the streets, and at neighborhood Starbucks.  We're just trying to keep calm ourselves, and maybe reflect on the times we've been Karens ourselves. The Algorithm Made Me Do It

November 22, 2020 18:03

This might be our longest podcast episode ever. It's a stitching of a few different recording sessions. I like it, though. It feels like a metaphor for parenting. Giving Grace

September 11, 2020 01:33

Time is moving slow and fast at the same time. How is this even possible? Every day begins the same--I wake up between 5:30 and 6. I stumble to the coffee pot then make coffee. I clean the dishes in the sink if there are any. Then I sit on my patio chair outside and watch the sun come up and wait for the chaos and noise that awaits when the all the kids wake up.  Every. Day. Begins. The. Same. Way.  It's like groundhog day, but with more masks, and less friends. It's no wonder 6 months felt ...

Garage Sitting

April 15, 2020 17:43 - 155 MB

Isolation days bring ups and downs. It brought Lindsey to bead. Yeah, she's making "hope strands". There's hope. We won't be stuck in the house for much longer, we hope. Well, maybe that's wishful thinking. Isolation does some...interesting things to people. We've had to take into account *gasp* each other's feelings, thoughts, and wishes. First World Problems and Four Kids

September 07, 2019 18:42

We've all got our issues... We all experience privilege in our own way. We're trying to navigate how to have empathy for others, deal with the problems we have, and not minimize the problems of others. (Especially those who we perceive to have more "privilege" than we do.) And...raising three is hard (for us). But, raising four, even if it's just for a week, is harder. Enjoy!
