Listen to the Jan. 1, 2018 special edition of the Pan-African Journal: Worldwide Radio Broadcast hosted by Abayomi Azikiwe, editor of the Pan-African News Wire. The program looks back at some of the events of 2017 and their historical implications. Also we will discuss the preparations for the upcoming Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebrated on his birthday on Jan. 15. We will hear another installment of the Massey Lectures delivered over the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) fifty years ago in late 1967. In Detroit the MLK Committee is making plans for its 15th Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Rally & March held downtown. The opening rally is held at Central United Methodist Church located at Woodward Avenue and East Adams beginning at Noon. Later at 1:30pm the march begins through downtown focusing on the struggle to halt foreclosures and evictions; mass incarceration of African American people; against massive water shut-offs and the negative role of the banks in ethnic cleansing along with tax captures. This day of events concludes at St. John's Episcopal Church on Woodward at I-75 with a cultural program and community meal.
