The big news in Paleo right now is the Carnivore diet- that is, a diet where you only eat animal products! Holy Beef Sticks, Batman- can that really be good??”The short answer is, yes, it can indeed. As the famous psychologist Jordan Peterson says, after such a diet healed his daughter’s severe arthritis, she convinced him to try it. He was already on a beef and greens diet, which had helped his several conditions immensely, but when she convinced him to eat a totally carnivorous diet- it cured everything, including psoriasis, a loss of 50 pounds of fat, periodontal disease- and even his lifelong depression! And this is from a man who is a really deep and incisive thinker: if you haven’t already, check out some of his myriads of videos on youtube and elsewhere. https://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?fr=yhs-iba-1&hsimp=yhs-1&hspart=iba&p=john+peterson+on+diet+youtube#id=1&vid=61fbdf057878b64b0cec1945fa94b860&action=clickAnd here is a video by his daughter, who was really dying before changing her diet, which she then recommended to her dad:https://video.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?fr=yhs-iba-1&hsimp=yhs-1&hspart=iba&p=john+peterson+on+diet+youtube#id=4&vid=8840fe4cf26ba79f7068035570c41995&action=viewHere is my takeaway from researching the carnivore diet: just as in the ketogenic diet, I would say go ahead and do it sometimes. I have already been doing this for years, under the rubric of my paleo diet- some meals, and even some days, I will go totally carnivore. Just as some days I would be classified and ketogenic, with loads of fat, lots of veggies, and a small amount of protein. But normally, I eat a varied, paleo diet, loaded with many vegetables and a few fruits in my smoothie, along with spices, kefir, eggs, apple cider vinegar, and cod liver oil. To this I add in eggs, meat, and oftentimes salads and seafood. I also have absolutely no problem with high fat dairy, but we all do vary somewhat.But- if I was overweight, and especially if I had any sort of autoimmune disease, including diabetes, arthritis, headaches, heart disease or cancer (I believe that all of these are, in the last analysis, diseases of an autoimmune origin) - why, then I would immediately go onto a totally carnivore diet! No hesitation whatsoever, I think it could only be therapeutic and ultimately curative. Plants are all chemical warfare practitioners- they have all sorts of compounds to subtly poison any animal that might eat them. All of them, from broccoli to spinach to tomatoes and soy, not to mention wheat! Our bodies have learned to adapt over the eons to some of them, at least in moderate amounts. In other words, the antioxidants in leafy greens can stimulate our bodies to react, ultimately making us react positively to them- in other words, what does not kill us makes us stronger! But again, it can’t be too much…Spinach is vastly overrated, as the oxalates, which are an anti-nutrient within that vegetable can cause very painful kidney stones, and also accumulate elsewhere in our body to our detriment. Beet greens are another culprit. But then, as I said before- all vegetables and most fruits also have anti-nutrients. And so, it is only logical, if our body is reacting with any autoimmune symptom, from depression to headaches to arthritis to IBS- Go carnivore! Eliminate all anti-nutrients; animal meats have none. In fact, go all beef for a time, until symptoms subside. Beef and good Redmond’s sea salt- when you are once more lean, symptom free, and healthy, then try adding in other foods. Keep them all animal foods at first, with chicken and seafood added in, and see how it goes. All ok, then try eggs, then high fat dairy…If any of these causes a return of unwanted symptoms or fat gain, eliminate it again. We are all different in our sensitivities, just as in every other facet of our being, leftists be damned- we differ in p
