Today on the show, I am speaking with newly minted doctor Ryan Lowery—the president and co-founder at the Applied Science and Performance Institute and the coauthor of The Ketogenic Bible. Let’s be honest, what’s up with people eating bacon smothered in grilled cheese and calling it Keto? Is that what Keto is for most people today, and if so, why do we need this diet? You’ve been hearing it and seeing it and probably even smelling it everywhere, right? Keto-keto-keto! In this episode, don't skim the surface of something that’s trending, but rather dig deep into the science of this lifestyle and diet to see whether it’s all it’s cracked up to be. We sink our teeth into controversial Keto questions and topics, including Keto from an ancestral perspective, fat adaption, Carnivore Keto, intermittent fasting and Exogenous Ketones, and so much more.

We also attempt to tackle the big protein versus carbs conundrum and discover why Keto is anything but a short-term fix for your health. Despite “Bible” being a pretty dogmatic word in the book’s title, Ryan is anything but dogmatic. Ryan acknowledges that different diets work for different people, especially when it comes to being fat adapted, and that even Keto looks different for different people. So, is Keto all bacon smothered in grilled cheese like we see on Instagram? Or is there more to it that that? By the end of this episode, you will have been introduced to a whole new world of Keto, and you'll see that it is so much more than that. If you’ve been on the Keto fence for a while, this episode is packed with knowledge that will expand your horizons.
