Buckingham Palace released a statement, explaining, “During the king’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have revealed a form of cancer. His majesty has today begun a series of regular treatments, and as a result, has been advised by his medical team to scale back public engagements. However, he will continue to carry out state business and manage official paperwork as usual. The king is thankful for the prompt and effective response of his medical team, facilitated by his recent procedure. He remains optimistic about his treatment outcome and is eager to resume his full range of public duties at the earliest opportunity. By sharing his diagnosis, his majesty hopes to minimize speculation and contribute to a broader understanding of cancer, offering support to others worldwide facing similar challenges.”

At this time, Buckingham Palace has decided not to disclose further information.

It is important to clarify that the diagnosis is believed to not be related to prostate cancer, which might have been a misconception given his treatment for benign prostate enlargement.

The king has returned to London from Sandringham this morning to begin his treatment as an outpatient.
