Today Michael reviews Scream 5, which he refuses to refer to as Scream 2022. Without giving away any spoilers, he explains the basic setup of this film and how it fits into the greater Scream franchise. Michael explains how the franchise compares to other franchises (like Halloween), which, unlike Scream, often tend to disregard all previous sequels and jump the shark when creating a reboot. Tuning in, you’ll hear about the pivotal role of the legacy characters played by Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette, and how they have grown throughout the films. Michael highlights that this is the first Scream sequel made since the passing of Wes Craven, sheds light on the nods made to him in the movie, and discusses how the new directors have continued his legacy. From self-awareness and meta-commentary, to a huge decision this movie has made (without giving away any spoilers), you’ll hear about everything that this movie has done right. You’ll also hear about the things that could have been done better, from the unmemorable kills, to the lack of jokes, the poor opening scene, unmemorable characters and some other implausible elements. To find out why Michael gives Scream 5 a 4/5 rating, tune in today!
