Carlita Lopez is a Dominican photographer/visual artist born and raised in the Bronx. Her artwork shows her love for her culture and her hometown of NYC with a pop art twist to it. Recently inducted into Swizz Beatz Dean Collection, her art speaks of the Native New Yorker/ Bronx Girl experience, with series such as “Bodega Dreams” and “Merengue”. She has had three solo exhibitions, “Bodega Dreams”, “The Artist Formerly Known as Carla” and “La Botanica” all held in Uptown, NYC. She has participated in countless exhibitions in NYC, and Art Basel in Miami. One of her biggest inspirations is the musician Prince, to whom she owes a lot of her motivation and drive to, and has paid many an homage to him and his legacy through her art. She hopes to continue to inspire women everywhere to follow their dreams and be themselves.
