ORPHANED STARFISH FOUNDATION FOUNDER, ANDY STEIN – HOW TECHNOLOGY CAN HELP CHILDREN SUCCEED & WHY HIS CHARITY TRANSFORMS LIVES

On this episode of OWC’s Leaders & Gamechangers, Setorii speaks with the founder of Orphaned Starfish Foundation, Andy Stein about how technology helps children's lives.

If technology can help bridge the gap between connectivity and people’s futures and children are our future, than creating opportunities for kids to learn in areas that may not have accessibility seems like the perfect chance for companies and brands to make a true difference in lives globally. With so many options of causes to be part of and charities to contribute to, how do we know which will create a huge impact in the lives of those touched and how can we all help? 

On this episode of OWC’s Leaders & Gamechangers, Setorii will have the honor of speaking with a man that is making a difference and has helped changed the lives of over 17,000 children worldwide. His name is Andy Stein and he is the founder / executive chairman of Orphaned Starfish Foundation. Andy is a recovering banker with a huge heart wanting to change the lives of children around the world. When corporate positions caught Andy’s knowledge and skills out and were asking for his time, Andy felt he was traveling so much and didn’t have anytime to help make a difference. He wanted to do more, help more and give his time to others. Andy would ask businesses he would work with, “to find me an orphanage and block two hours from my schedule so that I could go spend time with the kids and help” and they did which helped begin this inspiring journey. In 2001, after 25 years on Wall Street, Andy Stein left everything he was working on to start the Orphaned Starfish Foundation.

Andy was personally driven to help since he was a child. He and his team at Orphaned Starfish Foundation helps orphans, victims of abuse, indigenous children, at-risk youth and survivors of trafficking around the world learn IT skills so they can break their cycles of abuse and hardships and change the course of their lives for positive and successful paths.

Orphaned Starfish Foundation has different ways of connecting with people to help share what they are doing. One of the ways the Foundation is funded is through its galas. Each gala they honor children who have excelled in the OSF programs and they share how Orphaned Starfish has changed their lives. Many notable names also believe in what they are doing and have taken part in helping share the message. Artists like Jennifer Lopez, Jon Bon Jovi, Julia Styles, Skip Marley, and more have shared their support for OSF’s impact and success through the years.
