On this episode of OWC's Leaders & GameChangers, Setorii speaks with the creators of Still Working 9 To 5 Documentary featuring Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda.

When we think of films, we want to be entertained and taken to new places. We want to experience ranges of excitement and walk away from what we saw feeling like we learned or feel something new. The entertainment industry has kept us enamored for centuries. From the silent era to today – entertainment has always helped us enter a fantasy world, and have a new experience by leaving us feeling a wave of emotions that only films, music, documentaries and tv can help us achieve.

Some films can inspire us to be better while others can be the catalyst for conversation to happen and documentaries can help reveal the true essence of what makes a person, film, or moments in time so special. Have a passion for making documentary films? Want to learn how to successfully share the making of a film while bringing the story to life and make it inspiring to viewers today? On this episode of OWC’s Leaders & GameChangers, Setorii speaks with the team that put their hearts and souls into creating a documentary that not only moves the needle for so many around the world but shows us what the right kind of storytelling can do when we see things from a new perspective.

The 9 to 5 film was and is about empowerment. Audiences immediately fell in love with the three working women, Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin had enough of the office dynamics they were dealing with and they playfully schemed their way to hold their boss accountable in a comedic, clever and sneaky way by turning the tables on him. This wasn’t just a film, it was the start of a movement and it was a tone. This was a voice for so many people in the workplace dealing with uneven visibility, pay and opportunities.

Directors Camille Hardman, Gary Lane, Executive Producer Larry Lane, and Director of Photography Brian Tweedt – spent 4 years making this inspiring documentary about the 9 to 5 film and they brought Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin together to give us deeper insights and never herd before moments about the making of it. Camille, Gary, Larry, Brian and their team together helped craft a beautiful collection of powerful interviews, highlighting key moments and help us appreciate the genius of the original film through fresh eyes.

The documentary’s closing credits also includes the timeless 9 to 5 song we all have loved since Dolly Parton created it and you will be able to hear a new version that Kelly Clarkson made which Dolly and Kelly created a duet remake of it together. This driven team was able to highlight powerful messages, elevate many that have been making a true difference around the world and they help us learn through this documentary that when we come together we can inspire change for the good.
