Alec Holcomb has worn several hats (pun intended) throughout his prominent young baseball career. From his days as a left-handed, power-hitting catcher in high school, to his stint as a flame-throwing, dogged relieve pitcher in college all the way up to his latest gig as the youngest head coach in the entire NCAA at Carleton College, the Owatonna native has pretty much done it all on the diamond. Turns out, you can add “darn good lead-off batter” to the list as well. Recording a conversation inside the KOWZ main studio that lasted nearly three hours, Holcomb set a high bar and got us off to a rousing start. With that said, here is the first installment of a special two-part premier episode introducing Owatonna’s first completely local, fully-narrative, all-sports talk show. Ultimately, new episodes will begin airing regularly over the radio in late August as part of a 60-minute time slot. Within a few days, each one will be released as an extended podcast on all major digital platforms (similar to this installment). Show title and specific air station are both TBD. The second part of the Holcomb interview will be released in late March or early April.
