In this episode of Taking Command with Captain Tom, Dawn and Tom share the story of recent difficulties encountered during their trip from Isla Mujeres, Mexico to Progreso, Mexico.  What was supposed to be a 36 hour trip turned into a five day ordeal, a trip to the hospital and an injured crewman.  "The captain goes down with the ship" is a longstanding tradition that says  the captain of a ship ultimate has responsibility for the vessel and all its passengers. Should an emergency situation arise, they are expected to dedicate will their efforts to save those on board or die trying. There is also the Law of Salvage which gives those to happen upon an abandoned vessel the legal right to claim ownership of it. In this episode your learn:
