A fortnight ago Liverpool embarrassed Gasperini’s men, 5 – 0 in their own backyard. This game, Liverpool were greatly diminished by injuries and had an eye on their Saturday game but Atalanta just did not care and came for Liverpool with a vengeance. Atalanta have been especially prolific in Serie A and the UEFA Champions League and without doubt this game was an exhibition of how they achieve that attacking flair. We tactically analyse Gasperini’s men and also comment on TiFo podcast’s comments on balancing recruitment against the tactical philosophy and zeitgeist.
