Normally, I like to celebrate when players make the Hall of Fame. But this week, with unrepentant transphobe and sedition fanboy Curt Schilling at the top of the ballot, the baseball writers pitched the greatest shutout since 2016 NLCS Game 6. And it's time for some schadenfreude! A word Schilling definitely knows because it's German.
Friend of the pod A.J. Andrews (Locked on Jays podcast) is back to toast Schilling missing election and spell out why it's so important to keep him out of Cooperstown. She and I have had enough of cis white hetero male grievance and wingnuts who confuse consequences of their actions with censorship. At this point, Schilling's moral compass is so bankrupt, it might as well be his video game company.
On happier topics, A.J. is thrilled for the prospects of her Blue Jays in 2021 and we dive into the additions they've made this offseason. First off, the fact that the Jays are a Major League Baseball team that's actually making offseason additions in AD 2021 is, in and of itself, huge news. They've imported some big names--George Springer and Marcus Semien--to complement an impressive young core and look like they could challenge the Yankees for the AL East. Somebody tell Tom Ricketts that such a thing is still not against the rules.
