Roger Brigham became the first out gay editor for a metropolitan daily when he came out while working as sports editor of the Anchorage Daily News in 1982. Brigham retired this week after 46 years in journalism, spending the last 16 years at the Bay Area Reporter. Through the way, Brigham has battled serious health ailments, beginning with an HIV infection in 1982. Alex asks Roger about his life, career and lessons learned.
