This week's title implies hope that the Cincinnati Reds can someday win a World Series for a legendary player like Joey Votto. And don't get me wrong--that would be a really good idea! But the way they've been playing over the past month, you should take that title more literally.
Win ONE. One game. Any game.
Comedian and friend of the pod Mark Chalifoux is back to ruminate over the predicament the Reds find themselves in. Seemingly flying high and looking playoff bound as recently as mid-August, the Reds have lost series to abominations like the Marlins, the Pirates, and even my beloved Cubs. Now they find themselves fighting and clawing for a shot at the second wild card and nothing is guaranteed.
Which sucks because they still have Votto. And he rules. Thankfully the rest of Cincinnati and all of baseball has started to realize it. Hopefully they'll have a chance to see more of him in October.
