There is something unique and fascinating about the work of the self-taught visionary Madge Gill - the nameless women that feature in almost all of her drawn and painted works provide a haunting gaze challenging the viewer to both look more closely but, so intensely do they stare, it’s hard not to look away - they are the eyes to the soul of an unseen force that unrelentingly drove the hand of an artist for over forty years.
