Sermon: No Dry Trees

The gospel, the good news for all of us, is that we serve a “single” Savior! Jesus never married a human woman, never had biological children. Yet according to Isaiah 53:10, as a reward for his perfect obedience, his Father gave him “many offspring,” and “prolonged his days”! Jesus showed us that the lasting impact of God’s work in our lives is not that we have biological children, but that we would have many spiritual sons and daughters—people whom we have invited into God’s family by faith, and discipled. This is the audio (39.51, 36.4 MB) of a sermon delivered at a Baptist church in Zaporozhye, Ukraine, on March 11 entitled, “No Dry Trees.” The text was Isaiah 56:1-7. 

I’m thankful to Pastor Vadim Valentinovich Proshak, one of the teachers at Zaporozhye Bible Seminary, for the invitation. He also asked me on the way over if I would like to play a song as part of the service, so I sang “I Will Call Upon the Lord,” one of Joe‘s songs.

I’m also grateful to Vlad Lavrushko, a graduate of ZBS and Tyndale Seminary (the Netherlands) who is serving as ‘Aaron’ to my ‘Moses’ all week, as my interpreter in class and in church.
