We're dedicating this whole month to anime's most well known (and possibly greatest) auteur: Hayao Miyazaki! In this merry month of May-azaki, we're going to be seeing where Mr. Miyazaki started from and where he ended up as we review four of his movies from his very first (this very episode you're about to be listening to or might be listening to already, I dunno) to his latest! In this episode, we're discussing his feature length film debut: Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro! We break down all the fun things that Miyazaki brought to the Lupin lore and what this movie brings out in us as well as all the little things we enjoyed including clock towers, Wikipedia articles, and whimsical castles! Does this film stack up against Lupin III: The First or is it just an overhyped piece of adventure cinema that has been overblown by time because of the name attached to it? I mean, it's Miyazaki so you know it's not gonna be the latter option but I have to raise the stakes or why would you listen? This description business is rough. As always, check out new episodes every Tuesday by going to our website at www.otakumelancholy.com to see all our links including our social media and join the Discord at https://discord.gg/rUHYUyW to continue the conversation! Ganbatte!
