We've come from a variety of backgrounds, but the unifying force is pain and headaches themselves and wanting to improve the quality of care for headaches.Osteopaths for Progress in Headaches and Migraines (OPHM) is about improving the quality of care and knowledge osteopaths have around headaches. Phase one of the headache projects was finding out where we are now. Phase two is for developing the training course for osteopaths. Phase three is about testing this out and interpreting the data received. There's an old guard of osteopaths and a new way of working which is a more evidence-based and informed way of working. But success is about combining the old and the new with personalised care for the patient.There's a lot of evidence to show that educating patients really helps reduce pain levels and anxiety around persistent pain and chronic headache conditions.Osteopathy has changed in practice from the philosophy of osteopathy to more evidence-based osteopathy.
