KEY TAKEAWAYS

Gilly’s first solo business was making ready meals for parents at her children’s international school in Athens. She saw that a lot of the parents weren’t home cooks and knew there was a demand that she could fill. After finding out her son had to have a heart transplant, Gilly had to drop her business abroad and return to the UK. Through her son's treatment she started taking him to an osteopath who’s work really helped him.You don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow. Your business could end because of some completely unforeseen circumstance. When that happens you have to put your head down and do what you need to do. There will be more business opportunities in the future.Gilly then saw another gap in the market as she found out that the osteopaths she was working with had no idea about marketing and were finding it hard to get new clients in the door.In the health and wellness industry the point is to make your client better, and when they’re better they won’t need your services anymore. So the marketing side is incredibly important to the sustainability of that business.

BEST MOMENTS

‘I thought I could just jump back on the tube and go to work’

‘People would be buying jewellery off my body basically’

‘You could see it as being stuck on the bus, or you could see it as a private chauffeur’
