Eve Rodsky | Fair Play | Book Review by Lisa Woodruff of Organize 365

On Mondays, I will be posting a podcast recording of previously recorded book reviews. These are books that have impacted me that I want to share with you. In May, the Organize 365 book reviews will focus on estate planning and home organizing.

This week I am reviewing Fair Play: A Game-Changing Solution for When You Have Too Much to Do (and More Life to Live) by Eve Rodsky. This came out in the Fall of 2019 and I interviewed Eve on the Organize 365 Podcast in December 2019 (Episode 312). One of the things I struggled to articulate for years was the mental load I had as the female parent in our family with two kids. Women tend to do more physical in home care and tend to carry the mental load of caring for the home and family. In the book, she helps us identify the many parts of simple tasks like “making dinner” - the meal planning, the grocery shopping, the food preferences of each family member, the food preparation, and even the clean up after eating.

Not only does this book make you think about the division of labor in your home and family, it explains how we unpack our feelings and better distribute the load. It helps us to level the playing field in our families. If you are looking for a solution to the problem of mental load, Eve has it for you.
