After walking through a season filled with disappointment and discouragement, LaShawn Barber sensed God nudging her towards something new. Stepping out in faith, she left her accounting job of 20 years and began working in vocational ministry. While that step of obedience allowed her to discover and use her gifts and passions in new ways, it was not—and is not—without challenges. Being one of only a small handful of people of color in a Bible Belt megachurch has opened the door to new joys as well as fears.
