Episode 19: The Success Series | Tina Black

I met Tina in a Starbucks Coffee Shop where she offered to carry my tote bag for me that day. Tina was a dental hygienist and her husband felt she was destined to help more people around the world. He was right! In 1998, she purchased Great Lakes Academy of Hair Design. She is a light to those around her. Once you hear her interview you will understand why she is so amazing.

When Tina heard about the newly forming Paul Mitchell school network, she jumped at the opportunity and immediately flew out to meet the company's dean and co-founder, Winn Claybaugh. Tina loved what she heard and in 2004 her school became Paul Mitchell The School Great Lakes and one of the 10 original Paul Mitchell schools.

She has since opened several schools and salons since that day. Tina believes in "people before profit" and she often says "I'm in the business of changing lives."

She has published four books Be a Leader, Be Amazing, Be a Planner, and Be Uncommon.

Tina is a big believer in giving back and her schools are consistently ranked in the top 10 for fundraising.

Tina's passion to help people see their true potential and make the world a better place has led her to mission trips in Guatemala with the John Maxwell team to train more than 25,000 leaders in all sectors of leadership.
