Los Angeles-based business owner Yvette Ingram has decided to close all five of her beauty supply stores in California and Texas due to a series of break-ins that have affected her mental and physical health as well as her livelihood. Ingram's stores, which began facing break-in problems during the 2020 lockdown, have been broken into a total of 12 times, causing thousands of dollars in losses and putting her life in danger on several occasions.

Ingram, who started her business in 2016, expanded during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the recent rise in crime has forced her to shut down her brick-and-mortar operations. She believes that the current situation is not only hurting small businesses but also larger enterprises, as the odds of criminals getting caught and prosecuted are slim.

In the most recent incident, thieves smashed the windows of her Tarzana store location and stole $25,000 worth of merchandise. This devastating loss, combined with the ongoing threat to her safety, has led Ingram to make the difficult decision to close her stores.

Ingram initially fell in love with wigs and helping cancer patients in 2014, which led her to open her first beauty supply store. Sadly, the increase in crime has now forced her to close her businesses. This situation is affecting not only small businesses like Ingram's but also larger corporate stores, reflecting the overall challenging environment for brick-and-mortar operations.
