The Breakfast Club. Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Pretty In Pink. Home Alone. These are just some of the massively successful films that John Hughes has written and directed in his exemplary career. He found his niche in the 80s when coming of age teen movies was lackluster in Hollywood. Using his unique ear when it comes to music, he commissioned unknown artists of the time to make songs for his films. Most, if not all, of those songs became number 1 hits for all of those bands just because of it's association to the films. Join me today in how John Hughes left his office job at 30 to make films, and how some of the most culturally important songs of the 80s that defined a generation were made for his films.
