Sarita Parmar is a business coach, mentor and project manager with Community Futures Fraser Fort George and helps facilitate the LEAP for Women Project. Sarita was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer early 2018. She went through eight rounds of chemotherapy to shrink a lump that she found myself, in addition to several emergency room visits, self injections to help with white blood cell count, a bilateral mastectomy, three “impromptu” surgeries because of an infection, one blood transfusion and over six weeks of daily trips to the hospital for IV therapy and 28 radiation treatments.

Genetic testing also revealed Sarita is BRCA1 positive. Having this gene mutation (a “spelling error” in her DNA) puts Sarita at higher risk for breast and ovarian cancers. After losing her Mom to ovarian cancer, Sarita made the decision to proactively have her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed (salpingo-oophorectomy).

Sarita established a very powerful and informative blog called 'My Breast Life' and the blog shares Sarita's story through her love of writing. The blog can be accessed at the following link: https://saritaparmar.com/
