Carolina Hiller (Lina) is a world champion long track speed skater from Prince George. The 26-year-old Prince George Blizzard Speed Skating Club alumnus recently won the women’s team sprint earlier at the ISU World Speed Skating Championships in Heerenveen, Netherlands.

After graduating from high school she moved from Prince George, BC, to Calgary, AB, where she spent four years on Canada's 'Next Gen' national team program from 2017 to 2021. She was dropped from the team in 2021 and lost her national team funding, then began training at the Olympic Oval in Calgary and used this setback as a stepping stone to an eventual world championship.

Having already set Canada’s fastest 500-metre time this year (37.85 seconds), Carolina first arrived on the national scene as a multi-medalist in long track at the 2015 Canada Winter Games, hosted in Prince George. She spent four years on the NextGen national squad.

Carolina has many competitions coming up, but her long-term goal is to represent Team Canada at the 2026 Olympics in Italy. Carolina’s mom is a rider with Wheelin’ Warriors of the north, so athletics runs in her family. Her twin brother Nicolas Hiller has also competed in speed skating and has been a member of Canada's national team program.
