Boris F. Ochoa-Tocachi is a PhD in Hydrology and a MSc in Hydrology and Water Resources Management by Imperial College London, and a Civil Engineer by the University of Cuenca, Ecuador. He is the CEO of ATUK Strategic Consultancy, founder of the Institute for Applied Sustainability Research (iiasur) in Ecuador, and scientific advisor of the “Natural Infrastructure for Water Security” project for Forest Trends. Boris has developed his professional and academic expertise around mountain hydrology, hydrological monitoring & ecosystem service management. In the past five years, he has published over 25 scientific articles and policy briefs, delivered more than 75 talks & conference presentations, seminars & webinars, and received 10 prizes & awards. Currently, he investigates how to combine ancient knowledge & nature-based solutions with conventional engineering options to solve problems related to national & global water security.
