Mum At-last - Dealing With Unspoken Misconception About Surrogacy in Africa

Toyin Lolu – Ogunmade is the Founder and CEO of Precious Conceptions, Nigeria’s Foremost Holistic Family Building Consultancy. The company provides holistic fertility advisory, counseling, specialist referrals, wellness & nutrition for conception as well as support to those that are trying to conceive. Their family building services include natural conception treatments, assisted conception treatments with a specialty in ovum donor & surrogacy management.



Toyin’s desire is for everyone she comes in contact with to have at least one baby. Her 13-year struggle with infertility before becoming a mom with the help of a generous Indian gestational surrogate mother caused her career transition from a 20-year career in HR Management - spanning across Financial Institutions, to Trading and Oil & Gas sectors - to working full time with intending parents.



Her path to motherhood took her to India, where she ended up staying for 2 years, going through 3 IVF surrogacy cycles. Their efforts were rewarded through gestational surrogacy and God blessed them with a lovely set of twins, now 9 years old. Her surrogate is a generous Indian woman named Pooja.



Whilst in India between 2010 and 2012, Toyin decided to address the knowledge gap about Holistic Fertility Management in Nigeria and trained as a Fertility Counsellor and family building advisor.



She returned to Nigeria in 2012 and began educating couples about infertility management right from her sitting room, and then went on to start Precious Conceptions. She stepped out of Corporate HR in October 2019 to fully face her passion, which is working with couples that are trying to conceive.



She lends her voice strongly in support of demystifying infertility & reducing its attending stigma, promoting assisted conception treatments, holistic fertility management, and is an advocate for legislation & regulation of the fertility management sector.



Author of the book Mom, At Last, my 13-year journey, Toyin shares golden truths, and secrets of achieving success with intending parents, as well as those seeking to expand their families.



Her online Conception Boot Camp program “Ready Set Conceive” is a unique holistic preparatory boot camp for intending parents, where they are taught how to identify, improve and maximize their conception chances. It is the first of its kind in Nigeria, and indeed, West Africa.



To date, over 400 families have benefitted from her free learning sessions and more than 52 Precious Babies have been born through her work at Precious Conceptions. Several of these, through successful surrogacy arrangements in Nigeria.



Toyin has been interviewed by leading global media agencies like the BBC and Agence France Presse/Getty Images (AFP), Ebony Life TV, Your View with Morayo on TVC, Plus TV Africa, the Punch Newspapers, and reputable leading media agencies in Nigeria.



A recipient of the R-Wells Media Outstanding Mother of the Year award, Toyin has been recognized by Leading Ladies Africa as one of year the 2020s 100 Most Inspiring Women in Nigeria.



She is married to Lolu and blessed with a set of twins Orinayo and Oluwafikunayomi.
