The Avalanche are heading home with losses to both of the New York teams to finish the three-game road trip.

The Islanders shut out the Avs with a familiar face in the crease. Semyon Varlamov played a decent enough game and made some key saves, but the polished defensive play by the Islanders completely shut down everything the Avalanche had to offer offensively.

The Rangers game, on the other hand, was completely winnable. The Avs squandered an early 2-0 lead, and they really dried up offensively. As the game moved along, the Avs looked more and more disconnected.

The Avs come home to Denver for an extended stay, and a very important home stand. That starts against the Penguins on Friday.
