Directed by Hayao Miyazaki, this film was envisioned to be his response to the War on Terror, and particularly, America's stance in it and the rest of the world at the time. Always having a pacifist theme, it's never more evident than in this film, which could be way it's Miyazaki's favorite of all those he directed.
