"We deserved it. I mean, if you get a pummeling, you deserved it. But isn't it wonderful to remember a time that America was once so innocent that all we had to worry about was the next Batman movie?" - Joel Schumacher

Are we really wasting another weekend on a new release? Well it’s Batman (excuse me, THE BATMAN) and the whole world is watching so what do you expect? Your regular hosts, plus Derek, host of The Grand Gesture and Your List, My Command (kind of) joins the fray.

It’s strange, but for two guys who rail against comic book movies, our new release episodes seem to arrive back here. Derek tries (in vain?) to defend poor Battinson against an onslaught of jokes (some probably too personal) at his expense.

“There is something triumphant about Reeves The Batman, and I do like where the film leaves the character before the screen fades to black. But so many aspects dont come together, each refusing to resonate no matter how much I wished otherwise.”

Sara Michelle Fetters of Moviefreak.com hits the nail on the head for our hosts, noting that this is a mixed bag that leaves us wanting just a little bit more.

But what about our guest? The lone light in the darkness of Off Screen Death. Maybe he will appreciate this quote a bit more.

“Reeves loves these dead-end apocalyptic environments, and delights in tales that toy with the moral calculus of typical hero narratives. He has given us a Batman that he himself can believe in, not to mention a Batman that feels right for our times.”

Bilge Ebiri from New York Magazine might be angling hard for a spot on the poster, but hey, it sounds great.
