Dr. Sartia Cox founded the non- profit organization, Advancement of Oriental Medicine in Alabama, which serves as the Alabama state association. She is also involved in the movement to modify the restrictions on her profession in Mississippi led by Mississippi Oriental Medicine Association. She works at Choctaw Health Center in the Pearl River Community providing integrative health care in the Indian tribal hospital system. As a healthcare practitioner, she meets patients where they are and engage in a healing journey together.

As a teacher and educator, Sarita lectures on the subject of wellness and seasonal health care. She believes that self-care and development, awareness, evolution, and love are the principle techniques that promote health and healing. Her clinical pearls are packaged and available as Element Wisdom card decks. She argues that simultaneous cultivation and re-wilding us leads to the perfect and dynamic change of the earth and provides a gateway to reconnect to our essential and pure source within and without. As an earth steward, Sarita is developing and tending an urban food forest that is the site of her primary practice and wellness resource to her Tuscaloosa community. She continues to study Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture in apprentice and discipleship settings with the foremost teachers in the field while working to promote healthcare integration in the South. The teachings, poetry, words and thoughts of masters, mystics, prophets, saviors, saints along with the people, animals, plants, and planet she knows and continues to learn about have a deep impact on her life.
