Hey everybody! Welcome to episode 114 of the Not Joanna Eggs podcast! This week, Tracy and Robin review the 1981 Japanese anime film, Chie the Brat (Jarinko Chie).

Based on a long running manga series, this film was directed by Isao Takahata (Pom Poko, Grave of the Fireflies) and follows the story of a surprisingly responsible but short-tempered young girl, Chie, and her life running a small restaurant and reining in her deadbeat dad, Tetsu.

Join them as they discuss Tetsu being more of a dum-dum than a himbo, Chie's adorable relationship with her mother and the weird subplot involving cat testicles. (I mean, it was a thing with the tanuki in Pom Poko too, but this is just becoming a pattern now!)

We enjoyed checking this one out and hope you dig this episode! Thank you so much for listening! Please subscribe to us on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, Podbean or anywhere you get your podcasts. If you have any requests or questions, find us on Twitter or Instagram.
