 Fasting has always been one of the staples of Christianity according to scripture, but is there a right way to do it? Two Christians discuss what fasting looks like in the church culture and our experiences with prayer, The Daniel Fast, and even Ramadan for Islam.

Scriptures from the Bible regarding fasting: 

The Daniel Fast is derived from the Bible, which states in Daniel 10:3 that "I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled." The Daniel Fast limits food choices to whole grains, fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and seeds. 

Mark 9:29.
 “And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.” 

Matthew 4: 1-4 1
Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
