Every time the start of another college basketball season rolls around, the discussion turns to will this be the year Northwestern finally makes the NCAA tournament. 76 years ago Northwestern hosted the first ever tournament, but they are still the only major conference school that has never played in one.

Chris Collins came to Northwestern to change that. Entering his third year, Collins has the Cats on the rise and is blessed with his most talented team to date. He has senior leadership in center Alex Olah and guard Tre Demps. He has a budding star in sophomore point guard Bryant McIntosh. Wings Vic Law and Scottie Lindsey provide athleticism and scoring punch rarely seen at NU.

I sat down with Coach Collins at Northwestern media day this week. The November 5 exhibition opener is creeping closer. Collins and his team seem eager to get the season started.
