Persecution in Algeria makes them stronger

The nation of Algeria, Africa has closed down the churches. But at least one church leader finds this to be a benefit to the body of Jesus Christ.

Mission Network News cites a Christian leader in country, who found those with buildings were often building their own kingdoms. He said that now “where we are facing this persecution, there is an incredible movement of prayer and fasting. We’re not giving in; we must persevere by faith.”

And the goal of his ministry is to raise up 15 people to go out and disciple others for Jesus in the midst of the persecution. (Matthew 28:19-20)

Argentina’s surprise election

Argentina’s primary election over the weekend ended with quite a shake up for the ruling leftist/communist government.  

A libertarian, rock-singing, economist named Javier Mileil was the top vote getter, pulling in 30.5% of the vote. The Conservative People’s Party received 28%, and the ruling party came in third with 27% of the vote.  

What used to be one of the most promising economies in South America is collapsing under socialist rule. The inflation rate exceeds 100% and the cost-of-living implosion has resulted in 40% of Argentinians living in poverty.

Canadian Supreme Court penalizes non-COVID complying churches

Unlike the U.S. judicial system, the Canadian Supreme Court is doing the churches in Canada no favors when it comes to liberty.  

Churches in Ontario and British Columbia were fined hundreds of thousands of dollars for violating attendance limits and holding outdoor services during the COVID-19 crisis. And now they have lost their appeal to the high court.

The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms, which sided with the right of the churches to worship, argued that the harms caused by restrictions on church attendance outweighed any benefits.

The Church of God in Aylmer, Ontario, Canada was fined $183,000 for holding worship in defiance of lockdown orders. Back in 2021, Pastor Henry Hildebrandt declared, “We must obey God rather than man.”

Donald Trump indicted a fourth time

On Monday, Donald Trump and several allies were indicted in Georgia, accused of scheming to illegally overturn his 2020 election loss in the state, reports the Associated Press.

It’s the fourth criminal case to be brought against the former president and the second to allege that he tried to subvert the results of the vote. 

96 lives lost in Hawaiian fire

Now being referred to as the deadliest wildfire in American history, the Maui fire has claimed 96 lives, reports NBC News.

Hundreds are still reported missing. The city of Lahaina was completely destroyed. The fire has exceeded the California Paradise fire of 2018 which took 85 lives. Estimates of damage run as high as $6 billion. Reparations will run about 25% of the states’ annual budget.

Samaritan’s Purse and Greg Laurie’s Harvest Ministries are providing relief to the suffering in Maui.

Did Hawaii’s pro-abortion legislation anger God?

In response to the reversal of Roe v. Wade, the Hawaiian government adopted legislation this year to expand access to abortion, by allowing physician assistants to perform medical and surgical abortions, and allowing abortions to take place outside of hospitals and clinics.

The measure was signed by Democrat Governor Josh Green. 

America’s mushrooming inflation rate

Inflation is on the rise again after a brief respite.

Gasoline is up 11% since December. Services are up 6.1% year over year. Rents are up 8% year over year. The average rental in the U.S. has increased 24% since July 2021—from $1,650 to $2,028, as reported by RedFin.

In fact, the Core Consumer Price Index stands at 4.7%. That’s an inflation rate of 12% per year. 

Skittles pushes sexual perversion

The popular Skittles candy has jumped on the LHBT and Black Trans Lives Matter bandwagon with new wrappers advertising the support of the Mars and Wrigley company, reports Fox News. 

Between April and June of this year, Bud Light paid the price. It lost about $390 million and a loss of 10% sales when the company extended itself into endorsing sexually perverted lifestyles, beyond what some of the public was willing to accept.

Four young children survived a plane crash in the Amazonian jungle earlier in the summer—after the pilot and adults on the flight died.

The siblings, ages 13, 9, 4, and 11 months, lived on wild fruits and milepso seeds for 40 days, while the Columbia military and indigenous volunteers searched for them.

As reported by National Public Radio, the 13-year-old sister, Lesly, managed to keep the baby alive with a Yucca flower mixture administered using a banana leaf. By God’s mercies, a Belgian Shepherd rescue dog was the first to find the four children, after which rescuers found them and transferred them to a local hospital for treatment.

Teen boy survives Grand Canyon fall

And finally, in yet another amazing survival story, a 13-year-old boy from North Dakota survived a 100-foot fall on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon last Tuesday.

Rescuers finally reached Wyatt Kauffman lying on a ridge, two hours after the fall. He had sustained nine broken vertebrae, a ruptured spleen, a collapsed lung, a concussion, a broken hand, and a dislocated finger. By God’s grace, he survived. And he is on his way home today.

Psalm 68:20 says, “Our God is the God of salvation; from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death.”

Pastor Voddie Baucham: The Chosen violates Second Commandment

Well-known Christian pastor, Voddie Baucham, interviewed on the Babylon Bee Podcast, said he doesn’t watch the television series “The Chosen,” as it would be a “Second Commandment violation.”

The series has been streamed 500 million times. 

The second commandment reads: “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in Heaven above, or that is in the Earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them.” (Exodus 20:4-5)
