Shane Littrell is a cognitive psychologist based at the University of Waterloo. His research focuses on bullshitting (no joke) and he recently published a paper titled ‘You can’t bullshit a bullshitter’ (or can you?): Bullshitting frequency predicts receptivity to various types of misleading information. In this episode we discuss what bullshit is, how it differs from lying, some of the types of bullshit, Shane's research, how to better equip yourself so that you fall for bullshit less often and what you probably don't know about the Dunning-Kruger effect.
