In this first episode of our new podcast, NL Playoffs, hosts and Newslaundry subscribers Aniketh and Gowtham talk about the recently concluded Euro championship and Copa América. They take you through the Euro final, which Italy won after a penalty shootout against England, and the Copa final, which yielded Lionel Messi’s first major trophy with the Argentina national team.

Aniketh argues that coach Gareth Southgate's strategy to play a defensive game for about 85 minutes after his team had scored an early goal led to England's defeat. Gowtham points out that the English couldn't make use of the home advantage they had playing at Wembley.

They also discuss the racist comments directed at Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka, all of whom failed to convert their penalties in the shootout, after the match.
