Anyone reading this book will soon realize that I didn’t pay much attention in my English lessons at school, but it is written in my way and as I recall things. Everyone, everything and every occurrence are true and the overall timeline is correct, albeit some of the finer intricacies of chronological order may be a little distorted in places. With many thanks to Rose for taking the time to decipher my original handwritten script and typing it all up for me . . . Thanks Rose.

Welcome to this edition of Newsgram.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live your life like a “Rolling Stone”? Not Bob Dylan or Mick Jagger and Keith Richards for that matter, I’m talking about a true Rolling Stone. Refusing to settle down. Living your life with no ties to anyone or anything. One of my favorite examples is Jack Reacher, the character created by Lee Child. He likes small towns so he drops in and out of them but one thing you can count on is that by the end of his adventure there he would be back on the road. Of course jack Reacher is a fictional character but Nick Homfray is a real person.

Nick Homfray – My favorite place where I lived in the UK was anywhere I liked at the time I was living there. If I didn’t like it or we didn’t like it we moved.

Our connection wasn’t the greatest so I apologize for that and you should know that NIck’s health is not what it used to be but as he now looks back on his life I think you’ll be able to see that he has led a very colorful one. Nick Homfray is the living embodiment of the Bohemian Lifestyle and he makes no apologies for it. No regrets. In fact he says it does have an impact on your relationships but not in the way you might think.

Nick Homfray – Yea I’ve got friends now and we’ve been mates for over sixty years. and I’ve got people I’ve met for only a couple of minutes that have meant something to me that I’ve never forgotten.

By living his life this way Nick has managed to find friends, relationships and memories to last a lifetime and while it was hard at first, his declining health was the nudge he needed to  write down his experiences and he’s now sharing those stories with us in his new book Explosion in a Paint factory.

Nick Homfray – People used to say, “I wonder what goes on inside your head, and I said “It’s an explosion in a paint Factory” (laughs).

He is quite a character isn’t he. Even the title was not what you were expecting. The world is full of eccentric and interesting people like Nick and I hope they all write books to give us a chance to glimpse their fascinating lives. If you saw Nick on the street you would remember him, especially if he was wearing his fancy top hat. There’s a picture on the cover of his book.

Nick Homfray – I’ve led a life that has been very bohemian. People said I spend my life looking for something that I don’t know what is and if I found it I wouldn’t recognize it.

Did you get that? People describe Nick as the kind of man that spent his life searching for something that he wouldn’t recognize even if he found it. A Seeker. It’s a very poetic existence and I’ll bet you will see some stuff…

Nick Homfray – Many bizarre things, many interesting things.

And they’re all in his book Explosion in a Paint factory, which teaches the lesson that it’s okay to live your life the best way you know how as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else.
