Republican National Convention begins tonight. The reporting is that Trump needs to change the direction of his campaign and the polls. He’s been trying to do that unsuccessfully over the past few days. The Trump administration leaned on the FDA to issue an emergency authorization for the use of convalescent plasma. With the Postmaster General assuring Congress that ballots will arrive on time and some states turning to Ballot Drop Boxes, he’s still attempting to undermine the election by tweeting “Mail Drop Boxes… are a voter security disaster,” that are “not Covid sanitized.” Twitter slapped a warning on it: “This tweet violated the Twitter rules about civic and election integrity.” As he faces this challenge, one of his longtime advisors Kellyanne Conway resigned

In Kenosha, Wisconsin, police officers shot Jacob Blake, a Black man, in the back multiple times in front of his children; the shooting was caught on video and has sparked protests. The city imposed a curfew after the Courthouse and Administrative building were set on fire. 

A series of wildfires in California, the second-largest in the state’s history, have burned more than one million acres.
