Senator Kamala Harris officially accepted the Democratic party’s nomination for vice-president last night at the convention. Her acceptance speech, along with speeches from President Barack Obama, Secretary Hillary Clinton, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Senator Elizabeth Warren and Gabrielle Giffords spoke on gun violence, climate change, child care, and the importance of participating in this election.

Wildfires are burning across 200,000 acres in California taxing the state’s resources as never before. Governor Newsom has declared a state of emergency.

Facebook joined Twitter in taking action against the QAnon and Antifa movements. The social media platform removed over 3,700 groups citing threats to public safety. 

“I don't know much about the movement other than, I understand, they like me very much which I appreciate.... I have heard that it is gaining in popularity ... I heard these are people who love our country." A reporter followed up: “QAnon believes you are secretly saving the world from this cult of pedophiles and cannibals. Are you behind that?” Trump responded: “Is that supposed to be a bad thing? We are actually. We are saving the world.”

The European Union announced it will not recognize the results of the election in Belarus because it was neither “fair nor free”. Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny was hospitalized after allegedly being poisoned.

The state of Michigan has reached a $600 million dollar settlement with the victims of lead poisoning in the city of Flint.

Apple became America’s first $2 trillion dollar company.
