The News Beat podcast presents “This Week In Social Justice,” streaming live Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET. on Facebook, YouTube and Twitch.

Join us on this interactive program to share your thoughts on recent news and ongoing issues as we welcome special guests, break down important issues, and sprinkle in our unique brand of Hip Hop-fueled journalism along the way.

Our very special guests for this stream:

Catherine Flowers, an internationally recognized environmental activist, founder of the Center for Rural Enterprise and Environmental Justice—which seeks to address the root causes of poverty by seeking sustainable solutions—and author of “Waste: One Woman’s Fight Against America’s Dirty Secret.”

Amy Stelly, a designer and board member of the Urban Conservancy and co-founder of the Claiborne Avenue Alliance. Stelly will discuss how the construction of an interstate highway—dubbed a “monument to racism”—decimated a predominantly Black New Orleans neighborhood and became a public health threat.

News Beat is an award-winning podcast that mixes hard-hitting, social justice journalism with hip-hop to uniquely examine some of the most pressing issues facing society. Each episode features interviews from well-known voices—ranging from activists to scholars to journalists—set to music, interspersed with powerful, original lyrics crafted by notable artists specifically for that episode.
