In 1 John 2:28-3:3, John uses a word we sometimes see translated as 'abide', sometimes 'remain', and sometimes 'stay'. John was referring to a metaphor he remembered Jesus using in his Gospel, 'The Vine and the Branches' in John 15. John is saying remaining in Jesus has a 'now' and 'not yet' feel to it. What is the 'now' part? What is to come?
